Billy J. Hartley passed away at the age of 64, on June 6, 2023. He was born in Hondo, Texas on January 17, 1959, and is preceded in death by his father, Joe Hartley; mother, Nancy Hartley; and father-in-law, Jose G. Monzon.
Billy is survived by the love of his life and wife, Frances Hartley, who he married on February 11, 2000, which they celebrated 23 years of marriage together. He retired from USAA after 30 years. Billy was a man who always had a big heart and put all his efforts into helping people around him. He grew up to be a compassionate and caring individual whose kind-hearted demeanor touched the lives he came across. He was known for being a die-hard Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros fan. He was highly respected in the community for his intelligence and for his willingness to help others. Billy was always eager to lend a helping hand and was known among his friends for being genuine.
Billy looked forward to seeing his granddaughter Shyanne (Tori) excel and achieve in college volleyball at Carolina University in North Carolina.
Billy is survived by his mother-in-law, Carmen F. Monzon; brother, Joe (Nancy) Hartley; sister, Laurie (Steve) Hendricks; sister, Mary (Kirby) Pair; sister-in-law, Maria (Manuel) Ferdin; sister-in-law, Carmen G. Monzon; son, Derik Hartley; son, Lance Hartley; daughter, Clarissa Hartley; daughter, Christina (Frank II) Lucio; son, Christopher (Melody) Alvarado; grandson, Christopher J. Melendez (Jaythy); grandson, Frank III (Nora) Lucio; granddaughter, Shyanne "Tori" Lucio; granddaughter, Carolina Alvarado; great-granddaughter, Riley Melendez; great-granddaughter, Eliza Lucio; great-grandson, Christopher Jay Melendez and extended family whom he loved all dearly.
During this challenging time, it is heartwarming to know how many lives were touched by Billy's generosity throughout his life span.
In lieu of flowers and other contributions, please take a moment to cherish the good times you spent with Billy during his lifetime or pay tribute to him by continuing acts of kindness and compassion towards others as he did so well.
Billy's passing has left a void that will never be filled. May he rest in peace.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Primrose Funeral Services in Lytle, Texas. A Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Lytle with interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Devine, Texas.
