Bobbie Faye Boening

May 29, 1941 — February 18, 2021

Bobbie Faye Mann Boening, an unwavering mother and grandmother, died Thursday, February
18th surrounded by her family at her home in San Antonio. She was 79 years old.
The Texas matriarch was born May 29, 1941, to Juanda and Edward Mann in Pearsall, the
same city in which she grew to be a young woman. Her father was in agriculture and rose to
become one of the most successful landowners in south Texas. Her passions were her family,
education and travel. She ensured a legacy of prosperity for her children and grandchildren by
focusing on guidance, strong values, positive attitude, laughter and fierce self reliance. Her
wisdom was matched only by her kindness and warm heart. A selfless provider of love, support
and encouragement in her family’s pursuits and happiness.
While pursuing her English degree at Trinity University she met and married Forrest Robertson.
They traveled in Europe for many years and in Germany her daughters Lera and Lela were
born. Returning to the United States she later married Leland Boening and had her son Ashley
in San Antonio. Living in south Texas, she taught grade school in Poth for many years, providing
a lasting impact on the children she educated. Moving to San Antonio in the early 80's she
continued to build her circle of friends, support education, became more involved in social
events and participation with the church.
Her journey began in a small town; however, it was anything but small. Her life was a long and
rich adventure of experiences and relationships. She had a profound and positive effect on all
that were lucky enough to know her, spend time with her and love her.
She is survived by her children; Lera McGerty (Michael), Lela Robertson and Ashley Boening
(Stefanie), her grandchildren; Conner McGerty, Hannah McGerty and Conrad Boening, and her
sister; Mollee Clark.
There will be a public viewing held on Friday, February 26th at the Hurley funeral home in
Pearsall, Texas from 2p - 9p where all are welcome to come pay their respects. Her family gives
special thanks to La Differencia Hospice for providing kind and loving assistance and support to
her and the family during the final days of her life.
