Charlene Jeanette Maldonado

December 8, 1961 — May 6, 2024

Lytle, Texas

Our precious mother, Charlene Maldonado, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024, surrounded by family. She devoted her life to her children and husband. Charlene was the heart of our home and family. She raised three children, Lauren, Christina, and Rudy in a happy and loving home to be independent and thoughtful adults. Charlene was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them, often spending hours chatting with them and giving them her thoughts in her own motherly way, never afraid to vocalize anything she thought they needed to hear. Each one wished for just one more conversation with Mom that would inevitably lead to wanting another one.

Charlene was married for 43 years to the love of her life, Rudy.  They met when her brother Gary and Denise asked Rudy if he wanted to take Charlene to prom in 1979 to which his response was "Why certainly" in his best funny accent.  Over those next 45 years, they made amazing memories with their family captured in many photo albums and home movies. Rudy was her DJ and they would spend timeless moments sitting with each other and close friends Ray and Olga, listening to music with Charlene requesting her favorite songs. They loved each other with passion and lots of humor, Rudy will carry his beautiful wife's spirit with him forever.

As a grandmother to Harper (5), Quentin (7), Easton (11), Zaylee (13), Cash (14), Azlin (15) Zoe (17), and Kaleb (18), she was always loving and caring, with a house full of snacks and laughing kids and generally spoiling them rotten. Her house was a home to all of them, she enjoyed sitting on the front porch watching them play.

As an aunt, she would open her home to all of her nieces and nephews. Many summers and holidays were spent with a home full of the sounds of joy and love, many of which were also captured in photo albums and home movies.

Charlene was known for her nervous laugh (giggle) and kind heart. She was the heart and soul of our family, and she will be dearly missed.  Charlene is survived by her husband Rudy, daughters Lauren (husband Chris) and Christina, son Rudy (fiancé Angelina), twin sister Marlene (husband Tony), brother Julian III, sisters-in-law Denise and Sheila, her father Julian Jr. and mother Aurora. She was preceded in death by her brother Gary and nephew Gary Jr.

Charlene never wanted to be the center of attention, so her viewing services will be private for immediate family members only. Entombment service will be open to friends and family and will be held at the Moore Catholic Cemetery at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, May 10, 2024.
