Cruz "Mommy Cui" Maldonado

Cruz (Mommy Cui) Maldonado, age 98, of Pearsall, TX passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 8, 2024. Cruz was born in Pearsall, TX on March 24, 1926, by Lusia Davila and Reyes Maynez. In her hometown, she met and married her loving husband, Reynaldo Maldonado. They married on November 18, 1942, and remained married for 41 years, until he preceded in 1983. Mommy Cui was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, wisdom, and unconditional love. Mommy Cui was known for her passion for faith, reading, business, singing, and piano playing. She was the heart and soul of our family and will be dearly missed. 

She is survived by her two sisters and six children; a sister; Antonia Maynez Laguna, San Antonio, TX, sister; Gloria Maynez Chavez, Los Angeles, CA, son; Reynaldo II Maldonado and wife Odilia Maldonado, Pearsall, TX, her daughter; Yolanda Ramirez, and late husband Tom Jr Ramirez, Pearsall, TX, daughter; Sylvia Valle, and late husband Xavier Valle, Pearsall, TX, son; Ruben Maldonado, and wife Alma Maldonado, Pearsall, TX, daughter; Mary Jane Escalante and husband Leo Escalante, Pearsall, TX, daughter; Julie Westbrook and husband Chris Westbrook, San Antonio, TX. 

She is also survived by 20 grandchildren: Reynaldo III Maldonado, Robert Maldonado, Rene Maldonado, Norma Maldonado, Leonard Ramirez, Tommy Ramirez, Jerry Ramirez, Betty Ramirez, Xavier Jr Valle, Ricky Valle, Patricia Lopez, Ruby Longoria, Ruben II Maldonado, Steven Maldonado, Rodney Maldonado, Jacob Maldonado, Veronica Escalante-Johnson, Leo Jr Escalante, Anthony Rey Escalante, Crystal Pena, Vincent Brown, Christy Westbrook, Calista Westbrook, and Christopher Jr. Westbrook, following 32 great-grandchildren and 37 great-great grandchildren. 

To commemorate her incredible journey and to celebrate the love she spread, a visitation will be held in her honor on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM with a Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. at Primrose Funeral Services 608 E. Trinity St., Pearsall, TX 78061. Mass will be held Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Pearsall, TX with interment to follow at the Veterans Cemetery, Pearsall, TX.
