Daniel Ray Neal

Daniel Ray Neal of Poteet, Texas entered into eternal rest om Sunday, October 6, 2019 at the age of 71. He was born May 12, 1948 in Poteet, Texas to John and Geraldine (Winn) Neal.

Dan was a 1966 graduate of Somerset High School. In 1969, he was drafted into the United States Army and served his country proudly in the Vietnam War.

Dan married Vivian Carroll on November 10, 1973, opening day of deer season, which he never let her live down. They were blessed with almost 46 years of marriage, two sons, two daughters-in-laws and three granddaughters.

Dan was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved ranching cattle, horses, and working the land.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents, John and Geraldine Neal. He is survived by his wife, of 46 years, Vivian, son Joseph Daniel and wife, Rebecca and their daughter Nikaya Daniela, son Paul Christian and wife, Stacy and their daughters, Laikyn and Preslyn, sisters Barbara Ann Payne and husband, Roger, Darlene Burdick and husband, Jack, brother John Neal and wife, Becky and many nieces and nephews, as well ad numerous other loving family and lifelong friends.

Visitation will be held on October 11, 2019 from 2:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. with a Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. Hurley Funeral Home Chapel Lytle, Texas. Celebration of Dan’s life will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Somerset, Texas with internment to follow at Heickman Cemetery.
