Daniel T. Roten, affectionately known as Dan, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2024, at the age of 73, surrounded by his true love, Jackie Roten. A proud Vietnam US Army Veteran, Dan deeply cherished his time in service to his country, often sharing captivating stories about his experiences during the war and the love he harbored for the United States.
Born on May 15, 1951, Dan lived a life rich with dedication and passion. He enjoyed a fulfilling career as an employee at Caterpillar before transitioning to a part-time position at Walmart in Washington, IL, where he would share his warm spirit and infectious laughter with customers and colleagues alike.
Dan was not only a devoted husband and father but also a caring son, brother, and friend.
Dan is survived by His wife Jackie Roten; His daughter Tammy & husband Robert Lobdell, son Daniel & wife Jodi Roten, daughter Tina Roten , son Michael Boyd, and son Joel Cohen. Dan is also survived by his Brother Mike & wife Joyce Roten, Sister Jeannette & husband Mike McManis, Sister Judy & Husband Tommy Pritchett, Brother George & wife Anna Roten. Dan also leaves behind 5 granddaughters, 4 grandsons, 6 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Dan is preceded in death by his Parents Jean and Mary Roten.
In addition to being a loving family man, Dan had a multitude of hobbies that brought joy and fulfillment to his life. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, always seeking adventure and serenity in nature. Painting also captured his heart, allowing him to express himself artistically. Since 2015, Dan cherished countless memories traveling in his RV with Jackie, exploring beautiful vistas and creating lasting memories on the open road.
Dan leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, forever remembered for his unwavering commitment to family and friends. His memorial service will be held on March 8, 2025, at the Peoria Heights VFW Post #2602 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, where all who knew him can come together to celebrate his remarkable life.
He will be missed deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing him, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts. Dan’s spirit will live on in the cherished memories he created and the love he spread so generously.
