Being the oldest was a dubious task, growing up in the country you could only imagine all the adventure and jokes that where played.

He was a very curious boy who would "Tinker" with things taking apart everything including toasters to anything he could get his hands on. (Hence the nickname.)

If you knew him: you know you'd always leave with a smile and of course a funny story to tell.

When he got old enough to work during the summer, he would hall hay, move irrigation pipes, and load watermelons to make extra money to help ends meet.

He followed in his father’s footsteps, and "Nuggie" started doing carpenter work; he worked for various contractors around the area.

Tinker attended Catholic Church school in Devine for 3 years and later transferred to the Devine School where he graduated in 1976, along with his high school sweetheart.

He truly loved sports and being a proud Devine Warhorse, he played: football and baseball. He was known for some of his over-the-fence catches in the outfield, or even some he caught behind his back during a game. Football he was definitely not one of the bigger guys out on the field, but he enjoyed proving them wrong by tackling the bigger guys with no problem.

During his high school days, he met the love of his life Debbie "Boone" DuBose. They would’ve been married 47 years on November 5th. He enjoyed playing co-ed softball, riding horses, and being a member of the Devine Volunteer Fire Department, and later became a certified Firefighter. His greatest accomplishments were enjoying life with Deb and raising their kids and later grandkids.

He joined the Fire Department 80s: He made every call he could, helped build a fire truck, and enjoyed the pumper races. (Which they won many trophies, including the traveling trophy). He was even the Wintergarden mascot.

Many good memories with the fire department, some that can't be talked about.

In the late 80's he started working for HB Zachary in San Antonio, Texas. In 1994 he was severely hurt in a construction accident, where he was pinned and crushed by a heavy concrete wall. He almost lost his life that day, but he fought for years to follow. To be able to do simple things we take for granted. Had many surgeries and therapy over the years, including losing his left leg. Through it all he never lost his silly grin and humor, always playing jokes on his Dr. and nurses.

In 1984 his first daughter, Mindy was born.

In 1993 his first son, Darrell Woods DuBose III (Skeeter) was born.

You could see him at every sporting event, school function anything to do with his kids. Where occasionally he would take his prosthetic leg off, and wave it in the air as he cheered for his kids. He would even paint the kid's names and numbers on his legs. Anything to make people laugh; he took his weakness or some would say "disability" as a chance to make a joke.

His Spirit was so strong for Devine, as he had hand-sowed a Devine flag for the Warhorses, Skeeter's senior year. The football team would run out with the flag during the games

He loved being a dad and a "GRAMPS", he just loved life.

He loved to spoil his grandbabies: Taylor, Brayden, and Jameson. Always willing to watch endless amounts of cartoons, especially Scooby Do. Sneaking coffee to Taylor whenever Nene wasn't watching.

On November 1st he was called home, God said he needed some good laughs and a smile as big as Texas.

He was surrounded by his children and loving wife at his home in Devine, where he rested peacefully.

He will be missed: husband, father, Gramps, and soulmate, "My Best Friend"

Until we met again, Tinker

I will always love you, Love Deb

I’ll leave you with this... Please don't cry because I'm gone; instead, be happy that I was here.
