David M. Salinas, age 93, passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2021, surrounded by family, at his home, in Atascosa, Texas. He was born on November 19, 1927, in Karnes City, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ester and Luciana Salinas; his wife, Soledad Torres Salinas; two children, Rogelio and Alice; two grandsons, Ray Anthony Castro and Lupe Salinas Jr. David is survived by his children, David T. Salinas (Carolina), Lupe Salinas, Esmeralda Salinas (Jesus), Ruben Salinas, Olga Castro (Ray), Jesse Salinas, Sandra Gonzalez (Jesus), and Dorenda Alfaro (Adolf). He will also be missed dearly by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. David learned to farm and grow vegetables, by trial and error, and became one of the best farmers in Atascosa, Tx., for many years. His children and grandchildren share many memories of helping in the fields and going to the market with him, to sell his bountiful, home-grown vegetables. He enjoyed telling funny stories and making everyone around him laugh and smile. His fun and outspoken personality will truly be missed by those who loved him. The family will be receiving friends at Hurley Funeral Home (14822 Main Street, Lytle, Texas) on Wednesday, May 19th from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the Rosary, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 20th, a Funeral Service will begin at St. Andrews Catholic Church (14831 Main Street, Lytle, Texas) at 10:00 a.m. and Burial will follow at the Lytle Community Cemetery (Laredo Street, Lytle, Tx.)
