Emma J. Alfaro passed away on January 6th 2025 at the age of 68 in San Antonio Texas surrounded by loved ones. She passed away due to complications from a battle with stomach cancer. Her kindness and caring attitude will live on in the hearts of her loved ones. She had a gift for bringing positivity and joy wherever she was at.
Emma was born to Felipe and Elida Juarez on January 29th 1956 in Natalia Texas and grew up between Lytle and Natalia where she met her husband of 50 years Santiago Alfaro. Together they raised three children James, Jesus and Javier.
Emma spent her life and career helping others. She was a nurses aid at the Lytle Nursing home and Air Force Village for many years. Her favorite work came from working as a Special Education Teaching Assistant with Lytle ISD for over 20 years. While working for the school district she impacted the lives of many kids.
Emma spent her free time crafting. She was always creating items for friends and family member’s weddings, baby showers and birthdays. Her favorite outing was going to the bingo with her sister and friends. She was a major supporter of the Lytle Pirates. She never missed an opportunity to dress in Pirates attire and decorate the house showing her love for the team every year.
She was selfless, caring and her proudest achievement was her family. She loved every opportunity to bring them together. She looked forward to every gathering where she would play poker with her siblings, sons, nieces and nephews. Until her last day she always put her family in front of herself.
Emma survived by her husband Santiago Alfaro; three sons James, Jesus, Javier; daughters-in-law Teresa and Ash; brothers: David, Mando, Joe, Henry, Robert, Johnny, Mark, Ruben, Jesse; sisters: Olga, Josie and Cindy; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service for Emma will be held on Sunday, January 26th 2025 at the Lytle High School Auditorium from 1pm to 3pm followed by a small reception at the Lytle VFW memorial Post 12041. Please join us to celebrate her life.
