Dr. Franklin Jerry Meeks, a beloved member of the San Antonio community, peacefully passed away on December 17, 2023. He was born on January 1, 1933, in Pearsall, Texas, to his late parents, Albert Franklin and Delta Mae Meeks. Dr. Meeks resided in San Antonio, Texas, at the time of his passing, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished for years to come.
Throughout his remarkable life, Franklin Jerry Meeks showed an unwavering commitment to his family, community, and professional endeavors. After graduating from Devine High School in 1949, he nurtured a thirst for knowledge that led him to the University of Texas, where he earned his Bachelor's in Business Administration; he then enlisted in the US Army from 1953 to 1955, serving as a Private First Class stationed in Germany. Following his military service, Dr. Meeks pursued his passion for dentistry, graduating from the prestigious University of Texas Dental Branch of Houston in 1963 and earning his DDS.
For over five decades, Dr. Franklin Jerry Meeks dedicated his career to improving the oral health of countless individuals as a respected and compassionate dentist. His unwavering commitment to his patients will forever be remembered. Jerry's patients admired his professionalism, calm demeanor, and genuine care.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Meeks embraced the joys of life. He found solace in the beauty of nature through hunting and fishing, spending countless hours submerged in nature's embrace. A lover of exploration and culture, he embarked on numerous adventures, traveling far and wide, enriching his life with unforgettable experiences.
He leaves behind his four children, Michael Jerry Meeks, Cathy Mae Lucas and husband, Ray, Chris Franklin Meeks and wife, Clarissa, Donald Wayne Meeks, and wife, Tram; Grandchildren Corey Franklin Meeks, Lauren von Rosenberg, Ginger Lynn Kelly, Troy Walker Kelly, Ashley Mae Meeks, Cole Franklin Meeks; Great-Grandson Theo Meeks. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Mable Meeks, and his second wife Annette Meeks.
In remembrance of Dr. Franklin Jerry Meeks, a funeral service will be held at Primrose Funeral Services in Devine on December 22, 2023, at 10:00 am. Prior to the funeral, a public viewing will take place at Primrose Funeral Services on December 21, 2023, at 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm, providing an opportunity for friends, family, and community members to pay their respects.
Dr. Meeks' passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him, but his memory will forever be a source of inspiration. As we gather to celebrate his life, let us remember his compassionate spirit, his dedication to his profession, and his profound love for his family.
