Fred Lancaster

January 13, 1938 — March 27, 2022

Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Fred Oscar Lancaster, Jr., departed his temporal home for his eternal home on March 27, 2022, after dealing with Parkinson’s and MRSA sepsis for several years. Fred was born in Pearsall, Texas on January 13, 1938, to Fred O. Lancaster, Sr., and Helon Roberts Lancaster and enjoyed his boyhood there, raising chickens, milking cows, and selling the cream for spending money - and, especially, playing football for the Mavs. After 40 years away - at college, the U.S. Army, employment with DuPont in La Porte, TX, Montague, MI, and Beaumont, TX, from which he retired at age 55 in 1991 - Fred returned to Frio Co., running Los Cuñados Ranch with his brother-in-law Bud Ray, until his death, spending two years in assisted living. While there, Fred assumed many volunteer responsibilities: President of Medina Electric Co-op Board of Trustees, President of Frio Hospital Board of Trustees, Chairman of Pearsall UMC Board of Trustees, Pearsall Cemetery Association Board, to name just a few. A man with many hobbies, Fred enjoyed woodworking, leather tooling, stained glass, 42 dominoes, hunting, ranching and farming, BBQing and baking, reading, and watching almost all sports. He even built his camp house and his log cabin home. Fred loved his Lord and even wanted to be a minister until he became angry with God after his mother died a painful death from cancer. He subsequently traveled a powerful faith journey, including a Walk to Emmaus. Fred was preceded in death by his mother and father, brother and sister-in-law James Benton and Marjorie Lancaster, sister and brother-in-law Marion and Bud Ray, and niece Denise Ray. Those left behind to honor his memory are his wife of almost 60 years, Judy; his children, Jace Lancaster of Pearsall, Brooke Livingston (Randy) of Dripping Springs, Texas, FOL, III “Trey” Lancaster (Kristy) of Houston; six grandchildren, in order of birth, Hayden, FOL IV “Ford,” Madeline, Gage, Landry and Georgia; several nieces and nephews and their children; and so very many friends. Fred was loved by many, will be missed mightily, and remembered always. As you desire, in lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial to Pearsall UMC, PO Box 243, Pearsall, TX 78061, or to a charity of your choice, thank you. To all who knew and loved Fred, please join the family at his gravesite, Pearsall Cemetery, 11:00, April 23, and afterwards for a Celebration of Life and Resurrection at La Luna Venue, 6800 FM 1581, 12:30-3.
