Gilbert Alvarez, age 84 of Atascosa, Texas entered eternal rest on Monday, August 12, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 16, 1939, in Lansing, Michigan to parents Francisco and Ofelia Alvarez.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Roberto Alvarez. Gilbert is survived by his loving wife Maria Luisa Alvarez; children Leticia Rodriguez, Gilbert Alvarez, Jr. (Lolly), Delma Alvarez, Ruby Ann Rodriguez (Fred), John Albert Alvarez, Brenda Ann Ridenour (Scott), Mark Anthony Alvarez (Jody), Edward Jason Alvarez (Monique), Denise Marie McElroy (Jake); numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, cousins, and friends.
Gilbert was married to his cherished wife, Maria Luisa Alvarez, for an incredible 62 years. Their love story was one of unwavering support and partnership, serving as a beacon of hope and inspiration for their family. Together, they nurtured a home filled with laughter, warmth, and the values of hard work and dedication.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2024, from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. with a Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. at Primrose Funeral Services Chapel of Lytle, Texas. Mass will be held on Monday, August 19, 2024, at 9:00 A.M. at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Macdona, Texas with interment to follow at San Fernando Catholic Cemetery #3, in San Antonio, Texas.
