Gordon Moran Taylor, born in Junction, Texas, October 22, 1935. Lived in Devine, Texas with his loving wife of 47 years. A beloved son, husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, passed away peacefully. Parents were Charlie and Johnnie Taylor of Devine, Texas. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, his parents, and brother Kenneth Taylor and wife Penny of Somerset. He is survived by his daughter Debra Taylor McGuire, Step- children, Barry Stolzman wife Vicki, Deborah Stolzman Whitaker husband Jeff, Michael Stolzman wife Natalie. Several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and lots of friends. Gordon was very active in Devine Masonic Lodge #590, Devine Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #43, and Devine VFW. Gordon served his country during the Vietnam war and retired from the Navy after 12 years of service. Gordon worked construction for many years as a crane operator for HB Zaachery where he built hotels and roads in Saudi Arabia, as well as Houston bridge, Austin Bridge, E.E.Hood, and Dean Word
Gordon is a graduate of Devine High School, Attended Southwest Texas Junior College, Uvalde Texas. He minored in Farm and Ranch Management and received an associate degree. While at SWTJC Gordon worked on the set of the Alamo with John Wayne. He worked with the horses and was also a stunt double for Frankie Avalon. He loved to make wine with his wife and won several blue and red ribbons, he also loved to BBQ. He enjoyed reading Louis Lamour books and watching western movies. He was an avid sports fan he really enjoyed watching the Spurs and the Cowboys with his wife. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Funeral service will be at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery on Monday January 23, 2023, at 9:00 am. Full Military honors as well as a Masonic Funeral will be performed at Committal Shelter #1.
