With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our dear Father, Grandfather, and proud Veteran, Higinio "Jimmy" Gamez.
Jimmy departed this world peacefully on March 22, 2024 at the golden age of 93, surrounded by his family in his cherished home in Lytle, Tx.
Jimmy was a Korean War Veteran, enlisting at the age of 17, in the US Army. He was awarded the Silver Star, and various other awards and medals. He was a life member of the VFW Post 12041.
Jimmy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He enjoyed b-b-q’s, camping, billiards, poker, toma todo, singing and dancing. He enjoyed attending all his grandchildren's events, which could include Band, grandparents’ day, Christmas recitals, softball games, bike rodeos, shoebox parades, etc.
He was a strong, dedicated family man who loved Our Lord and faithfully prayed every day. He attended Lanier High School in San Antonio. Enlisted in the US Army in 1948, then retired from Kelly field in 1976 as an Aircraft Mechanic Foreman.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Jimmy is preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Ma, Esther G. Gamez; brothers, Jesse, Joe, Julian; sisters, Genevieve, and Margarita.
He is survived, by their only child, Jeanette Gamez Ramos; and son-in-law, Jason Ramos; grandchildren, Adam Gonzalez, Samantha Z. Gonzalez, Esther C, Gamez Ramos, and Destiny J. Gamez Ramos
Jimmy's legacy will continue to resonate in the hearts and minds of those fortunate enough to have known him. His kindness, integrity, and devotion to his family will be forever cherished. As we celebrate Jimmy's life, we carry with us his love for his family and friends.
Rest in peace, dear Pops and Grandpa. Your luminous spirit continues to inspire all who had the honor of knowing you. Your light shines on in the lives of those you touched, a beacon of love, warmth, and kindness. Never forgotten, always in our hearts.

A Visitation will be held Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Primrose Funeral Services in Lytle, TX.
A Mass and Burial Service will be on a later date.
