Irene Elisabeth Sloan was born a year after WW2. As a young girl, she crossed the Wall dividing Soviet controlled East Germany from West Germany when it was just a barb wire fence.
She emigrated to the U.S. by herself in her late teens while serving as hotel wait staff and concierge. She married and divorced her first husband.
She became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1981.
She worked at Kmart as hiring manager and assistant manager where she met many of her lifelong friends.
Before her retirement, she served the community as 911 Call operator for San Antonio.
She met the love of her life, Lyle Sloan Sr. at Kukla's bar in Kirby and eventually married him. He had two sons, Jason and Lyle Jr. who loved her as part of the family.
She is survived by these two men who she called her sons.
To summarize her, she was an opinionated head strong woman who loved those she cared about deeply. She loved Texas, the San Antonio Spurs, casinos, her close friends, and her close family.
