Janet Wilson
December 6, 1932 — March 23, 2024
Stockdale, Texas
Janet Wilson went to be with the Lord our God on March 23, 2024.
Janet was born on December 6, 1932, to Edward and Chleo Holmes in Oilton, Oklahoma. The family found their way to Jackson County Texas like many other oilfield families after the Depression. In Jackson County she met and married John Shutt, raising two sons. After 19 years of marriage, they divorced. She later married C.A. Wilson - a marriage that lasted just short of 40 years.
In the early 1970's they moved to Devine. C.A. was an oilfield contractor and Janet began managing the newly opened Country Corner Motel. The job surely fit her as a welcomer. Anyone who ever had the opportunity to stop to speak with her would soon realize that she had never met a stranger.
After retiring from the motel job, she and C.A. spent many years traveling the western continental U.S. from Texas to Alaska and enjoying visiting relatives, fishing, and spending time with numerous grandchildren, many of whom would always be in tow, traveling right along in the motorhome with Mamaw and Papaw.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband C.A. Wilson, parents Edward Holmes, Lester and Chleo Daniel, sister Sissy Gabrysch, brother Sonny Holmes, son Videan Allen Wilson and daughter Carolene Wallis.
She is survived by Arnold (Bo) and Vicki Shutt, Danny and Cheryl Shutt, and Debbie Wilson. Also, grandchildren, Theresa Shutt, Troy Shutt, Cody Shutt, Kyle Shutt, Sean Hunt, Derrek McLendon, Paul Allen Wilson, Chad Wilson, Alicia Sacko, David Joesten, Isa Sacko, beloved nieces and nephews, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren as well as great-great-grandchildren.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the charity of your choice, the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 12:00 P.M. Primrose Funeral Services Chapel, Devine, Texas with interment to follow in Evergreen cemetery.
