Jerome "Rome" Maurice Burleson

June 28, 1974 — June 19, 2024

Pearsall

Jerome "Rome" Maurice Burleson, 49, of Pearsall, Texas went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.

Jerome was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1974 to Joyce Taylor Burleson and MSGT Coy Eugene Burleson, Sr, retired.

Jerome spent a large portion of his childhood in Germany while his father was stationed there with the Army. Later he graduated with a bachelor's degree in culinary arts in San Francisco, California. In 2002, he joined the U.S. Navy as a Master-at-Arms and honorably served our country for four years. His first son, Alton, was born in 2000, followed by his second son, Elijah, in 2002. Then in 2008, Jerome met the love of his life, Colleen, and they welcomed their daughter, Jocelyn, in 2010. His love for "his girls" was unmatched.

Jerome loved cars and working with them in any way he could. He soon found he had a passion and talent for auto photography. Jerome wasn't a flowers kind of guy but when he cooked for you, you knew how much he loved you. A five-pound bag of gummies didn't stand a chance in his presence. But Jerome would say his biggest triumph was in the beginning of 2023 when he completely and totally surrendered his life to Jesus and then daily sought the face of God.

He is preceded in death by his father, MSGT Coy Eugene Burleson, Sr., retired; grandmothers, Esther Lewis and Elyse Burleson; Aunt JoAnn; Aunt Esther; and Aunt Sharon.

He is survived by his wife, Colleen; daughter, Jocelyn; sons, Alton Guerrero and Elijah J. Burleson; mother, Joyce Burleson; brother, Coy Burleson Jr.; and aunts, Kay Bowe, Karen Lewis, Christine (R.J.) Bauknight; and numerous uncles, and cousins.

A memorial service to honor Jerome's life will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at 11:00 am at Christian Faith Center, 13848 S. IH 35, Dilley, Texas.

Honorary Pallbearers: Alton Guerrero, Elijah Burleson, Coy Burleson, Jr., Barret Traylor, Ethan Valdez, Robb Stephenson, Tristan Traylor, Henry Kirk, John Howard, David Floyd and Blain McDonald

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of the below ministries that were close to Jerome's heart. He would rather have seen more people set free in Christ than flowers that fade.
