Joseph William Sanford

Joseph W Sanford, 88, has joined his late wife in heaven with our beloved Lord on October 11, 2023.  Joe was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Jones Sanford and his son Robert James Sanford.  Joe is survived by his children, Joseph W Sanford, III (Bec), Valerie D. Ricketts, and Pamela G Wiegand (Rich); his sister Winona Coulter; his 10 grandchildren, Andrea (Barry), Joey (Nichole), Stefanie, Scott (Marissa), Brandi, Jessica (Kyle), Halie (Evan), Birdie (Michael), Zachary (Claire), and Bobby; his 16 great grandchildren; his beloved dog Bella, and 6 nephews and nieces.  Poppa Joe was blessed with his family and many very dear friends.  May he rest in peace.

Joe was in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1958. While he did have various jobs his main career was in the restaurant industry and managing the opening of the Tower of Americas in 1968.  Later in his life he went into the carpet cleaning business with his son Joe and then ventured out on his own.  He worked until he was 82 years old and loved every minute of it.  He taught all his children a strong work ethic.

Service will be held at Somerset Methodist Church on Saturday, October 28, 2023, with visitation at 10:00 a.m. followed by the service at 11:00 a.m.  His ashes will be buried at Bexar County Cemetery following the service.  Memorial contributions may be made to Somerset Methodist Church, 8175 7th St Somerset, TX 78069.
