Judy Annette Montgomery

Judy Annette Montgomery, 71 of Devine, Texas passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family & friends on July 24, 2021.

She was born on August 21, 1949, in Winters, Texas, to Walter Leo Freeman and Evelyn Forester (O'Dell). Judy's family moved to Devine, Texas when she was in Junior High. She went to school here and graduated from Devine High School in 1967. Judy married Ralph (Monty/Denny) Denning Montgomery, Jr. during her senior year of high school.  After graduating, she traveled with Monty and their children during Monty's military career in the United States Navy, then the United States Coast Guard. After retirement, they enjoyed living in Costa Rica for 6 years and then returned to Devine, Texas to be near family.

Judy was a loving wife, mom, and friend. She enjoyed hosting family get-togethers and was a gracious hostess. She brought people together, not through familial obligation, but through love and genuine friendship. Judy was a very talented cook, baker and enjoyed sewing, quilting, and crocheting.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Walter Leo Freeman & Evelyn Forester and her brother, Jerry Freeman.

Judy is survived by her loving & devoted husband, Ralph Denning Montgomery Jr.; daughter, Denise Montgomery; sons Dennis Montgomery and Sean Montgomery (Serina); grandchildren: Gunnar Magnuson (Natalie), Tiffany DeMenna (Michael), Courtney Thompson (Tony), Kendra Montgomery, Zachary Hall, Braden Montgomery, Riley Montgomery, & Zane Montgomery; and great-granddaughters: Averie Magnuson, Tanner Magnuson, Madalyn Hernandez; sister, Linda Foulds; brother, Larry (Jan) Freeman, Gordon aka Bubba (Rita) Forester, Gary (Brenda) Forester & Guy Forester as well as many other family members.

The family will host a Celebration of Life in October 2021 in their home. Details to be announced later.

Hurley Funeral Home in Devine, Texas is assisting the family with arrangements.
