Emblem

Kenneth Carter Hassell Jr. went to be with the Lord on November 2, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Born to Kenneth C. Hassell Sr. and Icy Dubose Hassell on September 11, 1939, at home in San Antonio Texas. Kenneth attended Edison High School through his 9th grade year before his family moved to Devine where he graduated from Devine High School in 1957.

Kenneth married Karen Kay King, the love of his life, his beloved KK April 18, 1964. Together they built a beautiful life and recently celebrated 59 years of marriage.

Kenneth served his country in the Navy for 8 years after he graduated from high school. For 50 years he sold life insurance to many in the area. He was an avid fisher, both fresh water and deep sea. But, he was most proud to be a fisher of men. Brother Kenneth was a good, faithful dedicated servant at the Country Baptist Church, Lytle for over 25 years. He and his wife Karen were instrumental in the ongoing and continual ministry of the church. He served as a Deacon and Trustee with at least 5 Pastors during their tenure. During periods of the pulpit being vacant, He was relied upon for both institutional and spiritual guidance for the congregations. He was wholeheartedly committed to continuing the Lord’s work with worship service, Bible Study, Prayer Meetings, financial planning, and all business aspects of the church. God used Bro. Kenneth mightly and guided him to equip the saints, feed the flock, and maintain His sanctuary for the Glory of God at Country Baptist Church. A man of deep faith, a true disciple with a servant's heart.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Winnie Jean and Mildred, and his son Robert Allen McNeese Jr.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Karen Hassell of Devine. His children Trey Hassell and Jesus Marcos, Marla and Keith Lutz, Carol McNeese, and Shellye Hassell and Russ. His grandchildren Jason and Jennifer Kniejski, Keli and Jason Riojas, Heather and Mace Martinez, Kaci and Mason Bragdon, Mason Hassell-Hickok, Jacob, Zachary and Lyric McNeese, Hope Ybarra, Valerie and Junior Villazana, and 13 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on November 10, 2023, at 10:30 am with Service to follow at 11 at Primrose Funeral Home of Devine. A light lunch and reception will follow at Crossroads Community Church of Devine located at 745 TX 132 N.
