Magdaleno Silva Sr.

PVT Magdaleno Silva Sr. passed away on January 27, 2025, at his home in Devine, Texas. Magdaleno joined the United States Armed Forces on June 28, 1945. He served until being Honorably Discharged on February 1, 1946. During his time in Active Duty, he received a World War II Victory Medal. Thank you for your service and dedication to our County Magdaleno.

Magdaleno was born on November 26, 1926, to Jesus and Camila Silva in Devine, Texas where he later met the love of his life Maria De Jesus, and had five children. He worked as a construction machine operator where he retired after fifty-plus years.

He is preceded in death by his parents Jesus and Camila Silva; wife of forty years Maria De Jesus Silva; sisters Seferina Rodriguez, Enedina Tijerena, Otilia Gallegos.

He is survived by his children Antonia Sanchez of Devine, Carlos Silva of Castroville, Richard Silva (Elsa) of Brownwood, Maria Juanita Perez of Devine, Magdaleno Silva, Jr. (Arlinda) of Devine; brothers Christopher Silva, Felipe Silva (Dominga), Francisca Pena; six grandchildren Sonia Sullivan (Eric), Marisela Ruiz (Jacob), Jessica Silva, Michael Silva (Adedee), Maree Silva, Jacob Silva; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Pallbearers: Fermin Rodriguez, Ausencion Rodriguez Jr., Domingo Ortiz, Daniel Silva, Joe Pena, and Domino Cortinas.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. with a Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. at Primrose Funeral Services Chapel 14822 Main Street, Lytle, Texas, 78052. Mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 3, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Devine, Texas with interment to follow in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery with US Army Military Funeral Honors.
