Martha Aurora Esquibel

December 18, 1941 — June 18, 2023

Devine

Martha Aurora Pulido Esquibel was born on December 18, 1941, to Pedro and Anacleta Pulido in their home in Devine, Texas.

She was married to Gustino Esquibel on September 1, 1956, and had 4 children: Paul Alex, Grace, Sandra and Cheryl. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She devoted her life to her family as a homemaker but also briefly worked as an LVN before spending almost 20 years of her life caring for her husband during his extended illness. She was known as an avid gardener, an amazing cook, and had the best garage sales in town. Martha and Tino loved going to the casinos with their friends and family. Most importantly, she took so much joy in filling her home with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren during holidays and special family events. After her husband’s passing, Martha was able to travel and spend time with friends and family away from Devine.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gustino, her grandson Paul Alex Esquibel Jr, and her siblings: Joe Pulido, Pedro Pulido, Alice Martinez and Bertha Navarro.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Cindy Esquibel, Donald Justus, and Bobby Morales. Her beloved grandchildren included: Laurie Pfeffer, Larry Kniejski, Donielle Lozada, Michelle Walbridge, Steven Esquibel, Catherine Morales and Ana Morales. She was also blessed to have had 6 great grandchildren: Justus Lane Kniejski, Landon John Kniejski, Faith Grace Lozada, Delina Danae Pfeffer, Hope Rose Lozada and Penny Layne Walbridge. Her grandchildren’s spouses included: Darren Pfeffer, Marlon Lozada, Ryan Walbridge and Barbara Esquibel. The remaining Golden Girls, her beloved sisters, Delores Cineri St. Amant, Mary Martin and Rosa Del Toro survive her and live on to carry on the strength of the Pulido family traditions.

Martha truly lived a full life and made the most of what was handed to her. We are all better for having had her influence and love. She was a woman of tremendous faith. She prayed every night for her children and grandchildren. She always had a sense of when we needed her.

Martha gained her wings in the early morning hours of Sunday June 18th. We have faith that she is with our Lord and Savior, and we know that her body is at peace and that she has been reunited with our father and the rest of her loved ones.
