Martha Ann Harris

October 16, 1931 — November 17, 2024

Pearsall, Texas

Martha Ann Vaughan Harris of Pearsall, Texas passed from this life to the next at the age of 93 on November 17, 2024. Martha was born on October 16, 1931 in Pearsall, Texas to Julia and Thomas Vaughan. Martha is preceded in death by her parents, Julia and Thomas, twin brothers Marvin and Maurice, sister Maxine and her loving husband Charles Harris.

Martha is survived by her sons Bill Harris, Ricky Harris (Mary), daughter Julie Harris Crowsey (Chuck), grandchildren Chris Harris (Christy), Jason Harris, Matt Harris (Melanie), Jennifer Harris, Jaclyn Crowsey Lozano (David), Kelly Crowsey Vanderlaan (Nick), nine great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, sister Lanell McKinley, sisters-in-laws JoAnn Barnhart and Juanita Blundell, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Martha grew up in Pearsall, Texas graduating from high school in 1948. While working at a local bakery, Martha met the love of her life Charlie! They started dating in 1949 and were married at the Pearsall Methodist Church that Christmas Eve. Martha was a devoted wife and mother. Martha and Charlie shared a mutual love for one another over their 74 blessed years of marriage before his death in August of 2023. Martha and Charlie traveled with his job drilling seismic test holes across Texas, New Mexico and southern Louisiana. With two young boys and a baby girl on the way, Charlie and Martha settled in Pearsall in 1957.

Martha spent over 20 years working for Barnhart Insurance Agency. Martha was a faithful member and active volunteer with the Methodist Church. Martha played the piano and loved to draw and paint the beautiful creation she lived in. Martha was also a seamstress making and repairing clothes for her family and friends. In "retirement," Martha worked along-side Charlie as they raised cattle and trophy whitetail deer on the South Texas ranch they loved. Martha's passion for her family was exceeded only by her devotion to Charlie and her love of Christ. Martha shared her faith and Christ's love with family and friends.

Martha lived in the care home of Dan and Ana Negru of Boerne, Texas for the last year of her life. We extend our heartfelt thanks for the love, patience and tender care Martha received while at their care home.

Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her the fruit of her hands and let her works praise her in the gates.
