Melissa Ellen Hinojosa, 45, of Devine, Texas, passed away on March 25, 2023. After a hard battle with Pancreatic Cancer, diagnosed November 11, 2022, at 11:11 am. The time and date of Melissa's diagnoses is important because that is her "Angel Number" from the Bible that says God is talking to you.
Melissa loved her family, her husband, Benjamin Robert Hinojosa, her two daughters, Melia Bella Hinojosa, age 15 and Melilah Benay Hinojosa, age 8.
Anything Melissa decided to do she was a natural. She was very good at shooting a gun without practice. When she was in school, she was a Cheerleader, Gymnast, on the Varsity Tennis team, Varsity Golf Team, ran Track and sang in the Choir. She had a beautiful singing voice. And she was a beautiful girl. Her mother Deborah said they were literally stopped on the streets of Dallas to compliments of how beautiful Melissa was. She won "Little Ms. Garland" at the age of three out of 500 contestants. When she got older, she did some print modeling for department store Ads. Melissa was very good at expressing herself through writing but only for her own enjoyment she did not show her writing skills to others.
Going camping and on vacation with Ben and her girls was her favorite way to spend time. Taking Melia and Melilah, their little dog LuLu on many camping adventures. The Hinojosa's big vacation of the year was to take the girls snow skiing during Christmas break. Celebrating Melissa's birthday of December 23rd on the trip. Melissa would take all the family presents and even a small Christmas tree to decorate with and of course she was an excellent skier. The Hinojosa's spent a great deal of time traveling going to Ben's race events around the United States. Even Las Vegas for the big races.
Another hobby of Melissa's was to buy unique presents for friends and family members. She loved flea markets and finding "treasures" as keepsakes.
Melissa loved animals. The family has a menagerie of animals from 4H goats, a Brahma Bull (Cowboy), Heifer Strawberry, calf Blueberry and another heifer Milkshake. They had 2 horses. A tetra fish named Oceana. And a turtle Cheerio. Several chickens and dogs Lola, Luna, and LuLu.
Melissa was born in Dallas, Texas to her mother Deborah and father Art Lozano. When she was four years old, she moved to Monahans, Texas with her mother Deborah and stepfather Ken. She lived in West, Texas until the age of 25 when she followed Deborah and Ken to Boerne, Texas. Meeting her husband, Ben soon after.
Melissa is survived by her husband Ben, daughters Melia and Melilah; mother, Deborah Allen and stepfather, Ken Allen; father, Art Lozano and stepmother, Renee Lozano; half-sister, Amanda Lozano; mother-in-law, Gloria Hinojosa Schmidt; stepbrother, Jeff Allen; aunt, Corey Autry; grandmother, Emma Lozano and aunt, Becky Tranter; Ben's brother, Oscar, Londie, Jake, Chance and sisters, Tina, Jolene and Jamie; and many, many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
