Michael George Naegelin

Michael George (Mike) Naegelin September 10, 1928 - August 29, 2021, Michael G. (Mike) Naegelin, 92, of Lytle, passed away at his daughter’s home in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 29, 2021.

Mr. Naegelin was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Emma Naegelin; his wife of 42 years, Nelda (Yarbrough) Naegelin; his first wife, from whom he was widowed, Velva (Holden) Naegelin; twin sons who died at birth, Mike Joseph and Albert Michael; siblings, John Naegelin, Sr., Dob Naegelin, Theresa Carroll, Alfreda Hall, and Augusta Ritchie; and close friend, Preston Gray.

 He is survived by his children, Vicki Sue Van Hecke, Dixie Lee Trammel, Marsha Ann Geiger, Ronald Lee Henderson and Richard Lynn Henderson; sister, Adrene Bracewell; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and close friends, Bobby Cargile and Cullen Whitney.

 Mr. Naegelin was a landowner and lifelong farmer and rancher. He and his family grew peanuts, watermelons, vegetables, and other crops and raised cattle in several locations in Atascosa County. They lived on land they purchased many years ago near Lytle. Mr. Naegelin was an avid hunter of deer and wild hogs. He passed along his love and respect of the outdoors with his children and many others he knew. He confronted many challenges during his lifetime, both personal and common to those faced by the family farmer. He overcame them through grueling hard work, perseverance, and devotion to family.

Services will be held at Hurley Funeral Home, 14822 Main St., Lytle, at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021. Interment will be at Masonic Cemetery in Lytle. Pallbearers will be R.J. Henderson, Ronnie Henderson, Corey Trammel, Chase Trammel, Joey Van Hecke III, and Gerald Naegelin.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Lytle Animal Care and Control, 17971 FM 2790 South Lytle, Texas 78052.
