Mike Saldivar, 72, of Devine, Texas was called to his eternal home on Sunday January 22, 2022. He passed away peacefully with his family beside him. Mike was born on August 4, 1949, in San Antonio, Texas to his parents Isauro and Micaela Saldivar. He was preceded in death by his parents Isauro and Micaela Saldivar; sisters Angelica Michael; and Monica Saldivar. He is survived by his wife, Maureen Grassel Saldivar; daughter Michelle Fleming (Todd); son Phillip Saldivar (Beth); Stepson Christian Franks (Lisa); Stepson Zachary Franks (Ashley); grandchildren Amber Fleming, Wesley Fleming, Haley Fleming, and Avery Manning. Brother Joe Saldivar (Norma); sisters Ursula Stephens (Jon); Vicky Kennedy (Chris); Patty Shaw (Steve); Christine Infante and numerous family members and more friends than you can imagine. Mike served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a firefighter for Balcones Heights, Texas for 35 years. A job that he loved. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He still holds the Texas record for his 1980 Nile Perch. He was a cattle rancher, raised hogs with his children and grandchildren for stock shows, rode a tractor, built fences, rode horses, rodeoed in his younger years, and laughed and loved with all his heart. He was one of the good guys. Visitation will be held February 3, 2022, from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00P.M. at Hurley Funeral Home in Devine, Texas. Funeral Service will be held February 4, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at the Cowboy Fellowship in Jourdanton, Texas with Interment to follow at the Rutledge Cemetery in Poteet, Texas.
