Rebecca Gonzales

November 19, 1974 — November 22, 2024

Devine

On early Friday morning, November 22nd, 2024, Rebecca "Becky" Gonzales gained her wings and joined our Lord. Becky lived with her parents and her daughter and was home at the time of her passing.

Becky is preceded in death by her grandparents, Dionicio R. Gonzales Sr. (father), Maria R. Gonzales (father), Inocencia P. Garcia (mother), and José Garcia (mother).

Becky is survived by her daughter, Angel Marie Gonzales Mason; her parents, Dionicio R. Gonzales Jr., and Juana (Janie) G. Gonzales; her siblings, Rubby Gonzales, Rachel Gonzales, Rita I. Carrion, and Ray Gonzales; her sister-in-law, Marissa Gonzales; her brother-in-law, Roy Carrion; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, great-cousins, and friends.

Becky was born on November 19th, 1974 in Pearsall, Texas. She spent the first five years of her life in a trailer home in Devine before moving to a house just a few feet away, where she would live for most of the rest of her life. Becky attended school in Devine and went on to graduate in the class of 1993.

Becky had a very roller coaster-like life. She had many highs and lows, but always came out on top of her problems in some way. Becky was a true fighter, there was no doubt about that. She suffered a major TIA / stroke in 2005 that left her partially paralyzed on her right side, went on to give birth to her "baby girl" in 2008, had a minor TIA in 2014, and had a variety of health issues she dealt with. Despite her health and personal struggles, she conquered them and kept living to the best of her ability, nothing was impossible for her no matter how difficult it was.

If you walked into Becky's room, it is like you are stepping into her mind. She was never a dim spirit no matter what, which is very evident by the various different colored LED and fairy lights that adorn the walls and even her ceiling. There are over 60 different beautiful crosses on her walls, symbolizing her devotion to our Lord. Dozens of dream catchers hang from her ceiling as well, because she always dreamed big and had the most absurd and out of this world dreams. Her room was very bright, almost as bright as she was, with many stuffed animals on her bed, many of them being dinosaurs. Becky absolutely loved dinosaurs, as well as supernatural beings, storms, and more extravagant things, just like Twilight. Also evident by the amount of merch she has in her room, she loved the 2008 fantasy movie, as well as the rest of the franchise. One of the most notable things in her room are all of the pictures, which mainly contain her daughter.

If you knew Becky, you knew her pride and joy was her daughter, Angel Marie. After suffering from a major TIA in 2005, she was told she would more than likely not be able to conceive children. In 2007, she learned that she would in fact have what she liked to call her "miracle baby". She was forced to give birth to her 3 months earlier than her actual due date, but that just meant that she had more time to spend with her outside of the womb. Angel Marie was her pride and joy, she would always be there for her and make sure she had the best life that she could give to her. Becky always supported her in everything that she did, whether it be color guard, band, or any other various things. She helped fund her daughter's passion for professional wrestling, and helped her go to shows, which in turn made her more of a fan than she was prior to having her. One of her favorite moments was getting to take a picture with Thunder Rosa and getting to see her daughter bond with the wrestlers, some she herself bonded with as well.

Becky will always be known for her stubborn, yet kind attitude. She truly touched the lives of many, even people that she might not have realized she had affected in a positive manner. She will live forever in our hearts.

A Rosary will be held in her honor at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Devine, Texas on Friday, December 20, 2024 at 9:15am. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am.
