Rebecca Ann Sollock - Ward

Rebecca (Becky) Ann Sollock Ward died on August 9, 2024 at her home in Pearsall, Texas, surrounded by her family. She was 87 years old. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ross Ward. Rebecca is survived by her daughters Jenny Lynn Shafer (Todd) and Cindy Ann Winnick (Seth), and her son, Donald Ross Ward (Patty). She has eight grandchildren: Joseph, Ben, Jackie, Michael, Chase, Cidney, Lauren, and Colton and nine great grandchildren, of whom she was very proud. She was loved dearly by many friends, who were like her family.

Rebecca Ann Sollock was born on April 25, 1937 to Doris Trainer Sollock and Edgar Lenwood Sollock. She grew up in Devine, Texas. She met Ross Ward in high school, and they got engaged on their senior trip , at the base of Pike’s Peak in Colorado. They married on November 11, 1955 and settled in Pearsall. Becky and Ross were married 56 years.

Becky was the Chief Deputy County Clerk for Frio County for 28 years. She took pride in her work, interacting with and serving the public. She was known for always having a positive outlook and finding the silver lining in all situations.

Becky loved swimming and many family vacations were spent at the Frio river. In her later years, she enjoyed nothing more than spending time with friends and family in her swimming pool. 

Becky and Ross shared a love for horses. A lifelong lover of animals, many stray cats and dogs found their way to Becky’s home. Donations in her name can be made to Judy’s Ark in Pearsall, Texas. 

She will be dearly missed, but her family and friends take comfort in the fact that she had a life well lived, filled with love and joy. A memorial service for Becky will be held on September 21, 2024 at 2 P.M. at the First Methodist Church of Pearsall.
