Richard V. Maldonado

Richard V. Maldonado age 70 of Moore, Texas passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born in Moore, Texas on June 16, 1949 to parents, Rafael M. Maldonado and Refugia Villarreal Maldonado.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Rafael and Refugia Maldonado; stepmom, Lydia Maldonado; brothers, Rafael Maldonado, Jr., Rudy Maldonado, Sr., Alfonso Maldonado; sisters, Manuelita Maldonado, Angelita Gonzales, Amelia Sanchez, and Ramona Gallegos.

Richard served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He is survived by his wife, Ester Sanchez Maldonado of 36 years of Moore; son, Richard S. Maldonado and wife Sonia of Moore; daughters, Kristina Segundo of Charlotte, Ruth Ann Espinosa and husband Jeff of Pflugerville, Paula Maldonado of Pflugerville; brothers, Ralph Maldonado, Arturo Maldonado, Victor Maldonado Sr.; sisters, Ofelia Trevino, Lydia Villoni, Gloria Balderrama, Christina Maldonado, Maria Olan, Anita Cruz, Eremenia Sanchez, and Irene Maldonado; eight grandchildren, Cynthia, Ashley, Aaron Maldonado, Nathan Moreno, Kaylee and Gerald Segundo, Taylor Mendiaz, and Gabriel Espinoza; one great-grandson, Jaxon Anzaldua.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 6, 2019 in the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel in Devine from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 7, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with interment to follow in the Moore Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Richard Maldonado Jr., Gerald Segundo, Rudy Maldonado, Jr., Marcos Ybarra III, Victor Maldonado, Jr., Ricky Sanchez, Sr., and Nathan Kessler; honorary pallbearers, Nathan Moreno, and Aaron Maldonado.
