Roy Gonzales

Roy Gonzales, 83, passed away on May 6, 2020 at Sunrise Rehabilitation and Nursing Home. He was born on April 11, 1937 in Somerset to Madril and Olivia (Colunga) Gonzales.

Roy was a longtime resident of the Somerset Community and a generous supporter of the Somerset Bulldog Athletics. He served on the Somerset ISD Board of Trustee for 18 years and was a member of the Somerset Lion's Club as well as a lifetime member of the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. Roy held an honorary Lone Star Farmer FFA degree and was a strong supporter of the Somerset FFA. He worked many years as an operations and equipment manager in the oil industry.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Lina Gonzales, brother, Roger Gonzales; brother-in-law, Robert Gray and nephew, John Villarreal. He is survived by sisters, Susie G. Villarreal and Sarah Gray; brother, Fredrick Gonzales and wife Maria Gonzales, sister-in-law, Mary Ester Gonzales; nephews, Rodney Gray and Roger M. Gonzales; nieces, Rebecca Vasquez, Beatrice Villarreal, Sarah Gonzales, Pamela Gonzales-Spaun and Susie Gonzales. Roy will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

A visitation will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel, 14822 Main Street, Lytle, TX on Monday, May 11, 2020 from 2:00pm to 9:00pm. A graveside service will be held at the Bluebonnet Cemetery on Hwy 2790 in Somerset, TX at 10:00 on Tuesday, May 12, 2020.

Serving as pallbearers for Roy will be Rodney Gray, Roger M. Gonzales, Gabriel Vasquez, Garrett Gonzales, Roy Villarreal and Robert Flores.
