Teodora (Dora) Lopez Arguello, of Lytle, Texas, beloved mother and grandma, was called home by our heavenly Father, on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at the age of 90.
Teodora was born on April 23, 1932, at the Rio Vista Farm, Bexar County, Texas to José Maria Ramirez and Mauricia Zepeda. Two years after her birth, her biological father passed away, unexpectedly. Left as a single mother, Mauricia made the decision to move her and Teodora back to her hometown of Falfurrias, Texas.
After a couple of years in Falfurrias, Mauricia and Teodora moved back to Rio Vista Farm where she met and married Luciano Lopez. Luciano had two daughters of his own, Elena and Esther. The five of them became an instant family.
Luciano's fatherly love blossomed for Teodora and adopted her as his own. The family was finally complete with the birth of four brothers Richard, Henry, Daniel and Luciano, Jr.
On July 13, 1963, Teodora married the love of her life, Eduardo (Walle) Garza Arguello. They were blessed with four children, Guadalupe (Lupe), Natividad (Natie), Eduardo Jr. (Edward) and Dorotea (Dorothy). In 1969, they moved to Somerset, Texas and raised their family.
After numerous years as a loving housewife, Teodora's love and passion for cooking and baking for family and friends laid the foundation to enter a career in food service. Teodora was employed by Somerset ISD, Edgewood ISD and Shepard of the Hills Lutheran School. As a head cook, she proudly mentored and tremendously influenced those she worked with. She received numerous certifications in food service. Teodora was known for her carne guisada, homemade lemon pie, cookies, dinner rolls and bread. She also enjoyed sewing for her family, friends and numerous cheerleader uniforms. There wasn't a plant, flower, or herb that she couldn't grow.
Teodora was a parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Somerset, Texas. She served numerous years as an Altar Society member. She assisted in the food preparation of many church festivals. In the later part of her life, she became a parishioner of St. Andrew Catholic Church. Teodora was an avid prayer warrior and always taught her children and grandchildren to pray unceasingly and to leave every situation in God's hands. She prayed to many saints; however, her devotions were to the Virgen de Guadalupe and St. Anthony.
Mom was a beautiful and wonderful mother, mother-in-law and grandma. She prayed for many people, saw the good in everyone, welcomed you with a big hug, warm smile and full belly. She had many friends and no enemies. This world lost an amazing, beautiful and spiritual human being.
Almost 30 years ago you told Dad to go start building our home in heaven, go and help him finish it. Thank you, Mom, for all your love, wisdom and prayers. We can take it from here!
