Pearsall, Texas

Teresa Salinas Maldonado, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away on August 30, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 80.  As she walked through the gates of heaven she was welcomed by her family with open arms and earned her wings to sit at God's table with all the angels. She was born on August 12, 1943, in the town of Pearsall, Texas. Affectionately known as Teresita to her family and friends, she touched the lives of many with her kind heart and gentle spirit.

Teresa was born to Pedro and Manuela Salinas and grew up alongside her siblings: Alfredo Salinas, Lucas Salinas, Rodolfo Salinas, Alicia Guajardo, and Rogelio Salinas, who all have preceded her in death. As a young girl from a close-knit family, Teresa's values of love and compassion were instilled in her from an early age.

Teresa's life took a beautiful turn when she married the love of her life, Edward R. "Lalo" Maldonado. Together they built a strong foundation for their family. A devoted wife and partner for nearly six decades of marriage, Teresa shared an unbreakable bond with Edward that served as an inspiration to all who knew them.  She worked alongside her husband with the Texas Migrant Council and together they traveled the U.S.A. hand in hand.

Teresa's legacy extends beyond her role as a dedicated wife to being a loving and nurturing mother. She leaves behind three children who were the pride and joy of her life: Anthony Maldonado (Dora), Eddie Maldonado (Mariza), and Julie Garza (Ronnie). Her unconditional love knew no bounds as she supported them throughout their lives with unwavering guidance and encouragement.

As a grandmother to April, Eric, Markus, Miranda, Alyssa, Gavin, Alex, Tori, Rupert, Marissa, Nicholas, Max, Daphne – her heart overflowed with love for each one of them. Teresa treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and embraced the opportunity to impart wisdom while creating cherished memories.

Not only did Teresa radiate love to her immediate family, but she also maintained deep connections with her siblings and extended family. She is survived by her brother, Gilbert Salinas, and sisters Ofelia Perez, Lydia Martinez, Esther Salinas, and Irma Reyes. Together, they shared countless memories filled with laughter and support.

In addition to her loving family, Teresa leaves behind a wealth of cherished friends who were touched by her warmth and generosity. Her kind words and compassionate nature endeared her to many, always offering a listening ear or a comforting embrace whenever needed.

Teresa's beautiful spirit will continue to shine bright through the lives of her surviving loved ones. In the memory of their beloved matriarch, Jiraiya, Averi, and Baby Gonzalez carry on Teresa's legacy as great-grandchildren.
