Timothy "Tim" James Haass, Sr.

Timothy James Haass, Sr. passed away at home Friday morning, September 22, 2023. He was born in Hondo, Texas on October 1, 1959 to Louis, Sr. and Annie Haass. He attended Devine schools and graduated from Devine HS in 1978. He excelled in all sports, including football, basketball and track.

After graduating he was employed by Texas Department of Transportation where he remained until retirement 34 years later. He married Melba Thomas on January 31, 1981. Together they had two children, Timothy James, Jr. and Sarah Amber. He enjoyed spending time with his family and playing softball with many of his close friends as part of the Scorpions Team.

His favorite enjoyment was playing and treating his grandchildren. He spent many hours pushing his grandkids on a swing, picnicking, and going for long walks.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Melba; son Tim Jr., sister Maryln (Bobby); brothers Louis (Trisha), Dennis (Bertha), Wayne (Barbara); sisters-in-law Genevieve Forsch (Kent), Susie Penn (Alan), grandchildren and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents Louis and Annie Haass, daughter Sarah Amber, mother and father-in-law John and Barbara Thomas, and brother-in-law John Thomas, Jr.  Visitation will be at Primrose Funeral Chapel, Devine from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 5, 2023, followed by a Celebration of life starting at 11:00 a.m.
