Victoria Gonzales

Victoria V. Gonzales, affectionately known as "Ama" passed away peacefully at her home in Pearsall, TX on February 20, 2023, at the age of 91. She was born on July 28, 1931, in Pearsall, Texas to Santos and Guadalupe Velis. Victoria was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Raymundo Velis; husband, Ignacio V. Gonzales; infant daughter, Irene Gonzales; son-in-law, Hector S. Villarreal.

Victoria is survived by her loving children, Ignacio Gonzales, Jr. (Andrea), Estela DeLeon (Celestino), Ester Vasquez (Silverio), Rosa Hernandez (Ignacio), MaryAnn Villarreal (Hector +), Elena Padron (Marcus), Brenda Crenshaw (Eloy Vinton); 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and another on the way.

Victoria was a devoted Catholic and a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Pearsall. She was known for her delicious frijoles guisados and her braiding skills, which some of her granddaughters had the privilege of experiencing. She loved animals, especially dogs, cats and had several pets throughout her life. Her favorite color was blue, and she enjoyed listening to music, watching her favorite game shows, and The Golden Girls and her favorite flowers were sunflowers. She also enjoyed playing Loteria (Mexican Bingo) during holiday gatherings and savoring a slice of pumpkin pie or pumpkin bread. Victoria was a talented seamstress, often making her own children's clothes and clothing for others. Her infectious smile and laughter will be deeply missed by her family and loved ones.

A visitation will be on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 7:00 PM at Primrose Funeral Services in Pearsall. A mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Pearsall with interment to follow in Pearsall Veterans Cemetery in Pearsall.
